Drive Up to Pike's Peak

So, the boys and I finally made it up to the top of Pike's Peak today. We drove. I plan to hike up to the top at a later date, but that date was not today. It was very cool and if you ever come to visit us, we will take you there. For those who don't know, Pike's Peak is in what is known as the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, and has a summit elevation of 14,110 feet above sea level. It is known as "America's Mountain" and helped provide the inspiration for the song "America the Beautiful".

Pike's Peak Regional Airshow

The boys and I spent a couple hours at the Colorado Springs Airport today checking out the annual Pike's Peak Regional Airshow. It was pretty cool and the boys got to learn a little bit about WWII aviation. They had live fly overs of a number of restored aircraft, such as the P51, the Bearcat, and the Japanese Zero (there were others, I just can't remember). They also got to sit in the cockpit of a Cessna 172, which was really cool. Nehemiah was very interested when I explained the method for exiting the Cessna when skydiving, which involves hanging from the wingstrut, letting your legs hang, and then letting go! In the end, we got rained out and Micah tripped crossing the road and scuffed his knee, but it was a good time had by all.

Getting back into this... hopefully.

So, as usual, there has been a long lapse in between posts. I promise though, that I am going to make a concerted effort to get on this venue a lot more often, and avoid the Book of Face as much as I can. I have noticed lately that I get on there (the Book of Face) too much and when I do, it contributes to my high blood pressure. Whatever that part of some people is, the part that allows them to read the stupidity that comes forth from other people's mouths and blow it off, I don't have it. I've found myself getting angrier and angrier at people I don't know and intentionally trolling them, and I've realized that it is unhealthy, both physically, mentally, and spiritually.

I will still get on there from time to time, as I can't totally avoid it and need it to contact certain people; however, most of what I use the Book of Face for is posting photography, the reason that I originally started this blog. Mostly, it will be photography of my kids, the family, and friends; I always like to say that I, like the Apostle Paul, have the spiritual gift of hanging out. I will also try and post up the occasional picture from nature, too - you know I can't avoid sunsets, flowers, storms, and places of high elevation. Hopefully, you will like what I post and will follow the page. Periodically, I may even have some sort of an apostrophe (or is it an epiphany) and may share that, as well.
